My suse laptop seems to power off a lot lately when I step away for more than a few minutes. One thing I realized is that I don't think the fan runs anymore. At least I think it used to come on all the time. powersave doesn't recognize the fan at all:

> powersave -F
No fan devices available.

I'm not sure if this relates to the system shutitng down but I would like to get the fan running again regardless. Any ideas?

maybe it will only kick in at higher temps? here's what I'm at right now:
